Can Coffee Help With Weight Loss?

If you’re reading this article, you most likely make up part of America’s daily coffee consumption that average 400 million cups-and that’s every single day. Whether it’s used as a pick-me-up, a pre-workout boost, morning routine, or just for the great taste, it’s pretty obviously that America runs on caffeine. The main stimulant in coffee is caffeine, which can be classified as a drug and possess addictive qualities, but forget all that, we’re here to talk about how coffee could help you.

As someone who has a deep connection with my regular cup of coffee, I’ve discovered these possible ways that coffee may be beneficial to weight loss.

1.  Reduction of appetite.
I’ve often found that after downing a sizable cup of coffee any time throughout the day, I lose any urge to eat. It turns out that caffeine does inhibit appetite, which can help curb those midday snacking that hold you back from losing those few pounds that you’ve been thinking about.

2. Improves Metabolism
Coffee is shown to be able to pull out the fatty acids from your fat cells as an energy source to help you fuel your body. It is recommended that you do this on an empty stomach and without any recent intake of carbohydrates; reason being, the insulin response that is create by carbohydrate intake may inhibit the fat-burning effects that the coffee has on your body.

Important Considerations

If you currently are living a sedentary lifestyle, coffee may prove to provide little, to no, benefit to your weight loss attempts. For me personally, I find that accompanying coffee with physical activity produces the best results for me. On that note, always consult your doctor before making any significant changes to your diet or behaviors. If you don’t consume caffeine regularly, pace yourself on your first few doses or else face the wrath of caffeine jitters and anxiety.

At the end of the day, coffee only plays a small role in your overall weight maintenance journey. It acts as a supplement, which is meant to improve the conditions of an already solid foundation. And remember, if you’re adding cream and sugar to your coffee, that definitely is going against what this article is trying to tell you.
