ou Won’t “Ruin It” on Vacation — Stop Believing That

You’ve got a trip coming and part of you is already stressed about it — all that progress, undone by a week of vacation food and no gym. Let it go. That’s not how bodies work.

One week doesn’t undo months

Progress is built over weeks and months. It isn’t erased in seven days, any more than one workout gives you abs. You might see the scale bump a pound or two — that’s food and water weight, not fat, and it’s gone within days of being home.

Aim to maintain, not gain

Vacation isn’t the time to chase progress. Shift the goal to holding your ground — which takes a fraction of the effort. A couple of short workouts and staying active keeps the engine running.

The travel plan

  • Move most days — walk the city, swim, take the stairs. It counts.
  • A 20-minute bodyweight circuit in your room 2–3 times: squats, push-ups, lunges, a plank.
  • Lead with protein at meals, alternate drinks with water. Then enjoy the trip.

The real risk

The danger was never the vacation. It’s the “I already fell off, might as well quit” that turns one week into three months. Come home, show up, and the streak’s still alive.
